Hello!

Hi, I’m Amanda. Broadside Flowers is my little flower farm in Terra Cotta, Ontario.

Started in 2017 as a side project, Broadside has become a full-time business and continues to evolve in new directions.

My background is in fine art, specifically printmaking. Over the years my practice has shifted to include sewing and quilting.

More recently I’ve been experimenting with natural dyeing - growing my own dye plants and dyeing cotton yardage to create quilts. It’s been a wonderful compliment to the cut flower side of my farm.

Fresh cut flowers are ephemeral in nature. That they have a relatively short life span is beautiful and part of what makes them special. Our growing season in southern Ontario is also fairly short. Working with dye plants has allowed me to extend my season in a practical way and also explore the transformative nature of horticulture.
